  7. Russia has now rejected US and French demands for a binding United Nations resolution with "very severe consequences" if Syria does not turn over it's chemical weapons. It seemed that Russia's offer of putting Syria's weapons under international control could have avoided US military action against Syria. Obama is continuing to seek congressional approval for US airstrikes. Jon B.
